Yeah I noticed that too! The article mentions other topics the poems cover - such as Japanese invasion and Zhang Ji, but almost in passing, the main thing this article talks about is the poem about cultural revolution.
Unfortunately this is just the way things are - people get well known due to resonating, and what largely matches our expectations resonates the best in the most people. Great artists often play into that early in their career and can shed it after they're well known.
But just the same, I really did like the poetry they did talk about and the answer he gave, so I'll be checking this out.
