Maybe the actual study is different, but the summary does not establish which is the cause and which is the effect.
Amongst the boys I know, the more violent ones prefer to watch more violent TV content.

(worthless comment) by shielding children from any form of violence, aren't we creating a demolition man style world where it just takes one bully to push everyone around?

There's also how people are shielded from criticism so much, that they grow up without any ability to process feedback or criticism.
It feeds into how conservatives call such people "weak", and liberals respond that the reverse is "child abuse".

Bullies have been pushing everyone around for 300,000 years.

I understand the study and (not surprising) results, but 200 years ago children were not watching violence? Like public executions?
Violence alone is not a problem, violence without explanation of who and why is the problem. Our civilization is built on violence. Forcing you to pay taxes or we will take it from your account ourselves is exactly the violence. You did not payed mortgage? Sad we will take the house and leave you in the street. You pushed police man? You probably be forcefully apprehended, cuffed and thrown to jail. Violence.
Violence is not a problem, violence without explanation is the problem.
