Fairphone 6: cheaper, repairable and longer-lasting (theguardian.com)
bigstrat2003 2 days ago [-]
Still no headphone jack, which is a real bummer. Unfortunately it's not really for me with that limitation.

Agreed. What phone would you recommend?

I want a flagship phone with a headphone jack.

Looks like the only option nowadays is the Asus Rog Phones or Asus Zenfone Ultra.

Sony still uses them. Their security updates were sub par the last time I checked.

Also their Fairbud bluetooth headset have a very noticable latency, giving a dubbed-movie effect to videos of people talking.

I really miss the jack.

What's wrong with a USB-C -> 3.5mm adapter? You can even get one with an additional port for charging.

I’ve used many brands of these at various price points (and also usb-c headphones). They work fine for like a month, but the connection degrades over time (maybe it wears out or gets dirty?), and I haven’t found a way to recover stability once it starts to randomly disconnect. It’s super annoying because when it disconnects, the software doesn’t handle it well, and I usually have to unplug it, plug it back in, unpause the music, and hope it doesn’t do it again as I gingerly place it back in my pocket. Basically, I think that USB-c is just not as consistent or sturdy of a port when you’ve got the playback device moving around in your pocket.

I've been using this phone for a few weeks now, switching from a galaxy s21.

Perfectly happy. I hope I can keep using it for a long time. Don't expect flagship performance, but it's fine for daily use.

Ah maybe just one thing: lots of accidental screenshots due to the placement of the volume buttons.

A year since Android 16 release, and they're still selling outdated, not fully secure Android 15?

Im afraid if you value security (and in the consequence, privacy), this is not a phone for you.

Shame. I like the hardware (beyond the security parts, which are predictably..... well.... Not up to the current political climate and raging attacks).

And with this ugly hole in the screen again. They could have put it in the very center of the screen at least, to make it even more annoying
